French Press Guide
French Press: The OG of Coffee Brewing
If you want bold, full-bodied coffee without the fuss, the French Press is your ride-or-die. This classic brewing method delivers a rich, smooth cup with serious flavour—no paper filters, no drama, just freshly roasted coffee at its finest.
What You’ll Need:
- Freshly roasted specialty coffee (30g – trust us, go fresh or go home)
- A French Press
- Hot water
- A spoon for stirring
Let’s Brew Some Liquid Gold!
- Add Coffee: Grind 30g of coffee to a coarse or medium-coarse texture (think chunky sea salt). Toss it into your French Press like a pro. Give an Emeril Lagasse "BAM" as you do so.
- Add Water: Pour 500g of hot water over the grounds. Aim to saturate all the coffee—because missing some would be super ineffective.
- Wait 5 Minutes: Yeah, patience is hard, but flavour takes time, my friend.
- Break the Crust: Stir it up, breaking that thick layer of coffee goodness at the top. Go for 3-4 solid stirs.
- Optional Foam Scoop: Some folks like to scoop off the foam for a cleaner taste. We say you do you.
- The Plunge... But Make It Chill: Instead of slamming the plunger like a dramatic action scene, press it down gently until the screen sits just under the liquid. This keeps your cup crisp and silt-free.
- Sip & Enjoy: No more waiting—you’ve earned this. Pour, sip, and enjoy one of the smoothest, richest cups of specialty coffee you’ll ever taste.
